The African Catholic Community of St. Christophorus in Dortmund Huckarde is a relatively young parish.
The community consists of more than 50 young people from different African countries: Nigeria, Cameroon, Malawi, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, etc.
We celebrate a service every Sunday at 12 noon in St. Christopher's Church. In view of the many different African languages, the majority of these services are held in English.
We introduce the English speaking African catholic community in St. Christopher Dortmund Huckarde.
In August 2008, the family of Mr. Igboaka and Fr. Donatus Asomugha celebrated the first holy Mass in the Church of St. Gertrude in Dortmund. This very small gathering gave birth to what we know today as the English speaking African Catholic Community in Dortmund.
The community is made up of Christians from across English speaking Africa. But we are a Christian family. Through the various groups in our Christian family we share our time with each other.
Due to the selling of catholic churches in Germany, we were asked to relocate to another church with luck and strong effort of our then parish priest Fr. Robert Okongwu we found a home in St. Christopher's Church in Summer 2015.
